Alibaba and Salesforce Reach Strategic Partnership During Trade War

On July 25th Salesforce and Alibaba announced a strategic partnership.


The announced strategic cooperation contains two important messages:


First, the "dual-exclusive" cooperation in channels, Alibaba will become the sole supplier of Salesforce in mainland China, Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan, and Salesforce will also become the exclusive enterprise CRM products sold by Alibaba;


Second, Salesforce fully integrates Alibaba Cloud. According to the cooperation agreement, future core services of Salesforce, including sales cloud, service cloud, business cloud and Salesforce platform, will fully integrate Alibaba Cloud to provide comprehensive services to customers in Greater China.



Earlier, Alibaba Cloud put forward the "integrated" strategy at the Beijing summit, explicitly stating the principle of "not doing SaaS yourself, but helping everyone do better SaaS." This is also an important development of Alibaba Cloud's "integrated" strategy.


The Salesforce partnership will be supported by Alibaba's channels, while Alibaba can also tie Alibaba Cloud services to Salesforce in depth.


The competition of general-purpose CRM in the Chinese market is already very fierce. July 24 Baidu officially released CRM (customer relationship management) product "Aifan". Salesforces' partnership with Alibaba will put more pressure on CRM vendors on the same track in the future and may also have an impact on ISVs in Alibaba's corporate ecosystem.
