Binzhou Customs, from Shangdong China, Detects Large Increase in Imported Cotton

From January to April, Shandong Binzhou Customs tested 54,300 tons of imported cotton and 107 million US dollars, up 6.1 times and 6.6 times respectively.126 batches of unqualified cotton were found, helping enterprises to recover the economic losses of 1.793 million US dollars.

Binzhou Customs Cotton Laboratory is currently the only full-project testing laboratory in Jinan Customs District, which is responsible for testing the imported cotton in Jinan Customs District.The laboratory is equipped with the most advanced testing equipment in the world and has established a quality management system in accordance with international standards, which has been approved by CNAS laboratory.

The laboratory has established an exchange mechanism with the US Department of Agriculture's Cotton Laboratory, Germany's Bremen Cotton Laboratory and other international authoritative laboratories to ensure the testing capability and level.

The head of Binzhou Customs Technical Center said that Binzhou Customs Cotton Laboratory will start to undertake the import cotton testing business for the entire Jinan customs area in February 2019. In the first quarter, 270 batches and 33,742 samples have been tested and reported. Compared with the same period last year, the number of test batches and samples increased by 938% and 510% respectively.
